MANILA, Philippines – FitFlop, in partnership with the Haribon Foundation, has successfully concluded a coastal cleanup drive in Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park on March 30, 2023. The event aimed to promote environmental responsibility and raise awareness regarding the importance of protecting Philippine marine biodiversity and critical habitats in urban areas.
The partnership brought in over 50 volunteers to the coastal cleanup drive, including FitFlop’s employees, media partners, and influential personalities who value the importance of sustainability. The volunteers all worked together to collect and properly dispose of the waste surrounding the wetland park’s shore.
“FitFlop has always been about comfort and style, but we’re also a brand that cares about the environment. We’re glad that this event was a success and hope that we can have more events like this in the future,” said Erica Dehesa, Marketing Manager of FitFlop Philippines
In the spirit of sustainability and camaraderie, all volunteers present during the cleanup drive collectively wore Vitamin FFX Knit Sports Sneakers and Rally Multi Knit Trainers. The Rally Multi Knit Trainers are part of the ultra-flexible and superlight collections and are the epitome of sustainability due to their properties being partly made from recycled materials. Along with FitFlop’s initiative to produce environmental-friendly products, the Vitamin FFX and Rally Multi Knit sneakers are the perfect way to commemorate this special event.
The Haribon Foundation, a non-profit organization celebrating its 50th year of safeguarding the country’s natural resources, played a vital role in the cleanup’s success as the group shared their insights and stories on environmental conservation among the volunteers. The expertise of the facilitators from the Haribon Foundation ensured that the whole project was an immersive, eye-opening experience for all.
“Haribon firmly believes that private individuals and enterprises should be actively involved in addressing critical environmental issues in the country such as pollution. We celebrate FitFlop’s choice to take initiative through Haribon’s coastal clean-up activity, and I have high hopes that they will continue supporting Haribon in getting more advocates to follow suit,” expressed by a representative from Haribon Foundation.
Following the success of the coastal cleanup drive, FitFlop and Haribon Foundation aspire to continue the partnership promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability in the Philippines. Both parties hope that the event inspires fellow Filipinos to take action to preserve the country’s marine life and natural resources.
